ASSP GSJC – Call for President-Elect Nominations for 2025-2026

With the resignation of Melinda Anderson, our President-Elect, Jay Jamali, Past
President 2009, has agreed to step into the President elect position, per our Bylaws
shown below.

As Immediate Past President, I will be chairing the Special Election Committee to fill
the open President-Elect position. This email serves as a call for nominations for the position of President- Elect. Candidate Nominations are due by 5 pm, Saturday June 20, 2025. A slate of candidates will be published to our membership, by June 29th, with elections being held via survey and read at our July 2025 meeting.

The Standard Operating Guide for the President-Elect Role provides information on the role and responsibilities of the position. Please feel free to email me and ask questions about the position.

If interested, submit your nomination on the Elected Officer and Council Application.

ARTICLE VI – NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS

Section 8:
b) Should a vacancy occur early in the term, in the office of:
1) President, the President-Elect shall succeed to the Presidency. (There is more in this
section that does not apply).
2) President-Elect, the President shall:
(a) Appoint a special Election Committee.
(b) Publish notification of the election and the slated nominees for office at least 15
days in advance of the Chapter meeting at which the election is to be held.
(c) Receive at the Chapter meeting any additional nominating petitions as may be
rendered, and signed by the number of members specified in Article VI, Section 3.
(d) Conduct a voice vote at the Chapter meeting if there is only one nominee, and a
written ballot if there is more than one nominee for office.
(e) Ensure that the elected candidate assumes office immediately upon election.
