Topic Lockout/Tagout that Actually Works: Lessons from the Floor, Not the Binder
This webinar is intended for employers, management, health and safety professionals, industrial hygienists, union representatives, worker advocates, and workers.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Control hazardous energy—every time. Identify all energy types on the job (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal, gravity, springs), follow the 6 LOTO steps, and verify zero energy (try-start/test) before any work begins.
- Run LOTO the right way—in real life. See what goes wrong without machine-specific procedures, group lockout (hasps/lock box), and solid rules for shift changes, contractors, and testing/positioning.
- Fix the missing piece: safety culture → safe behavior. Embed the habits: “One person, one lock” and “No verify, no go.” Use simple supervisor checks and peer accountability so production never overrides LOTO.
