Title: Cargo Truck Tanks Unseen Confined Spaces

Overview: 

Our November Training will feature a special Confined Space theme for the Tank Truck service sector by Daniel J. O’Connell, principal safety engineer and co‐owner of SAFETRAN Site Safety Support Services. Mr. O’Connell’s peer reviewed article, “Cargo Truck Tanks Unseen Confined Spaces” was the featured inaugural cover issue of ASSP’s Professional Safety Journal (PSJ), June 2018. Followed by a presentation at Safety 2018, by invitation of the American Society of Safety Professionals PDC in San Antonio, Texas.

Presenter: Daniel J. O’Connell

Founder and principal safety engineer with SAFETRAN‐CSRS Rescue, a safety consultancy training  and technical rescue group in the San Francisco Bay Area. With over 30 years’ experience in construction, trucking and heavy fleet safety, Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in safety and health, and advanced certificate in safety management from the University of California. Prior to becoming a Certified Safety Professional, O’Connell served three decades in heavy construction and trucking, as a Union Carpenter, Teamster, and bilingual consultant. A professional member of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), the ASSP Transportation Practice Specialty (TPS), and the National Safety Management Society (NSMS). Standards development activity includes the ANSI/ASSE Z15 Vehicle Safety Committee, ANSI/ASSE Z117.1 Confined Spaces (ASC), NFPA 350 Committee for Confined Space, and NFPA 241 Committee for Construction and Demolition.Daniel is an internationally known author, bilingual trainer, and lecturer. He is qualified in state and federal court as a forensic expert for cases involving construction, trucking injury and wrongful death.
